The compact, pocket-sized pH measuring device BW10 is suited just as well for aquarium and plant enthusiasts as it is for owners of a swimming pool. But the BW10 also makes a reliable companion for applications in the professional sector, e.g. measuring pH values for quality inspections in the food and beverage industry or for a quick and reliable assessment of the water quality. In recent years natural ponds have become increasingly popular. As a rule, they are in a state of ecological balance and can do without chemical additives. However, unwelcome surprises can be avoided by checking the pH value on a regular basis. Rain or a top-up with tap water can always cause the pH value to drift off into the acidic (pH < 7) or alkaline (pH > 7) range. The range of tolerance for fish is between pH 6.5 and 8.5. Ideally the pH value of the pond water should amount to approx. pH 7 (neutral) and remain as steady as possible. But it is also vital to observe and thus regularly monitor the correct pH value in swimming pools, especially when located outdoors. Should the water become too acidic or alkaline, it not only has an adverse effect on the bathers (stinging eyes, itching). It further influences the durability of the materials used in the pool (corrosion, decomposition of calciferous materials, porosity etc.) and the effectiveness of the added disinfectants.

Automatic calibration and temperature compensation: saves time and achieves a high level of accuracy

With the automatic temperature compensation and the automatic calibration functions the measuring device permits a quick and precise determination of the pH value between pH 0 and pH 14 in the temperature measuring range between 0 and 50 Deg.C. The three-point calibration is already carried out before leaving the factory, but using the supplied pH buffer solution set it can also be repeated at any time with very little effort. The test result is indicated on the clearly legible two-line display. The determined pH value is displayed along with the water temperature – accurate to two decimal places. Hence, a separate thermometer is not necessary. The practice-optimized pH measuring device BW10 comes equipped with an easily exchangeable pH electrode. Electrode and water temperature probe are protected from damage by means of a removable protective cap. Owing to a convenient hold function it is not necessary to write down the previously measured value. Furthermore, the automatic switch-off function reduces the energy consumption of the four button cells already included in the scope of delivery.
